One of the grave sins of couplehood and of marriage is forgetting the all-important anniversary. And, one of the most intimate and most heartfelt ways of letting your significant other know how much that special date means to you is through giving each other lovingly written anniversary cards. Instead of buying mass produced cards, why not try to impress your partner and make the gesture more meaningful by making your own anniversary cards? You don’t need to have advanced card-making skills. With a handful of craft items and a little bit of effort, you can have one ready in no time at all.

Cardboard or Paper Anniversary Cards

Get some cardboard or some thick paper. Come up with a design. If you want a folding card, fold the cardboard in half. If you want it open, lay the cardboard flat. Trace the design you want on the card using a pencil and then cut it out. Use craft scissors if you want a zigzag, scalloped, or wavy edge. Use stencils to decorate the card and to put in the wording on the front. Use colored pencils, crayon, acrylic paint, or markers to do this. Lay decorative paper that has been cut into different shapes such as flowers or hearts on to the front of the card. Write your message inside or on the front.

Multimedia or Online Anniversary Cards

If sending an actual card is not an option, online or multimedia cards can work just as well. There is a plethora of free online anniversary cards on the Internet, most of which you can customize to match you and your loved one’s style. You can make a photo montage of your honeymoon to go with the card. You can include poetry and up the ante by having an anniversary song written for you and incorporating it into the card. You can even make a scrapbook telling the story of your relationship. Use photos, quotes from your favorite movies, poetry and your favorite tunes to tell the story of how you met or how you proposed. By putting in a little effort, this project can turn out to be more cherished than an expensive or elaborate gift.
